Dotan's urging to express our dark side on Dark Pheonix Day, and being nearly late at doing so, I can but use the old MORE RED! trick for the userpic. I'm attaching it here since it won't be the default one for long, and since I don't think it's very clever, I'll tell you something about my standard userpic instead.
I collect editions of
Once On A Time, which, you might have noticed, is the one constant through this journal for the last eight years. My info is a quote, my account name is the villain and my online persona, and the userpic, well...
There have been several editions of this book since 1917. There's the victorian-looking one, all sweet art and delicate design, from 1923; there's the pocket edition, signed-by-the-author edition, Swedish edition, you name it. But my favourite is the 1962 New York Graphic Society edition, because they took one Susan Perl to illustrate it, and she did a fantastic work bringing the characters to life. I've often regretted the fact that in the Hebrew edition they skipped most of the art.
If I could have a bigger userpic then, I could choose between a few visuals of the wonderful, mean, clever, manipulative, love-hungry, delightedly-human Countess Belvane; deciding which one is the best for Dark Pheonix day would be the problem, but since none of those pieces actually works on a 100X100 format, I'm spared the dilemma. Still,
some Belvane art is better than none, so I hereby present you with the abominable countess, just as she wears her most noble face at the poor Prince Udo (known as GetTheeHence to some dear people), who is, let's say, less than his best at that point. I think that's Dark Pheonix enough.
